The Boiling Lake hike is widely considered the most spectacular adventure in the Caribbean. Located in the heart of Morne Trois Pitons National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — this 8.1-mile round-trip journey takes you through ancient rainforest, across volcanic ridges, and into the surreal Valley of Desolation.
The lake itself is a flooded fumarole — a crack in the Earth's crust through which volcanic gases escape. The water temperature at the edges reaches 180–197°F (82–92°C), and the centre is perpetually boiling.
Elvis has guided hundreds of hikers to the Boiling Lake and knows every twist and turn of the trail. His deep knowledge of the local flora, fauna, and geology makes this much more than just a hike.

Frequently Asked Questions
How fit do I need to be?
This is a challenging 8.1-mile round-trip hike with significant elevation gain. You should be in good physical condition and comfortable with long hikes.
What should I bring?
Sturdy hiking boots, plenty of water (at least 2 litres), snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a light rain jacket. We recommend trekking poles.
Is it safe?
Yes, when done with a certified guide. Elvis has completed this trail hundreds of times and knows every section intimately. Safety is always the top priority.
What's the best time of year?
The trail is open year-round, but the dry season (January–June) offers the most comfortable conditions. The lake is always boiling regardless of season.
What is the private group fee?
Private tours include a one-time private group fee per booking — this is charged once regardless of how many people are in your group, not per person. See the pricing table for the current fee.
How is transportation priced?
Transportation is priced by pickup zone/location. The fee is shown in the booking form when you select your pickup area. Transportation products include hotel pickup and drop-off.
What is the Government / Forestry entrance fee?
The Dominica Forestry, Wildlife & Parks Division charges a separate entrance fee for Morne Trois Pitons National Park. This fee is set by the government and is not controlled by Elvis Nature Tours. The current non-resident fee is US$8 per person for a single-site visit. The fee is added to your booking total at checkout.
What departure times are available?
Available departure times are confirmed at booking based on current operational scheduling. We typically recommend 7:30 AM — this is Elvis Nature Tours' operational recommendation based on trail conditions and timing. Official Forestry site access hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; early departures allow you to reach the site before peak hours.
Can I book for a large group?
Groups of 9 or more require a separate request. Please contact us to discuss availability, guide capacity, and pricing for larger groups.
